South Tyrol. The home of our organic apples.

300 days of sunshine every year. A mild climate. Clear water. Pure air. Nutrient-rich soil. Apples feel more at home in South Tyrol than anywhere else in Europe.

South Tyrol. The home of our organic apples.
The sun, the Alpine-Mediterranean climate, the fertile soil and the different altitudes of South Tyrol are ideal for many apple varieties.

South Tyrol. The home of our organic apples.

South Tyrol and apple cultivation simply belong together. Our fathers and their fathers knew that: starting in the 19th century, they cultivated apples in their orchards. In all compass directions and between 200 and 1,000 metres above sea level. Many different apple varieties feel at home in South Tyrol, thanks to the hills and valleys, as well as the various climatic conditions. Today, South Tyrol is one of Europe’s most important regions for apple cultivation.

With South Tyrol’s climate, our small farms are big advantage
Our family operations encompass 3.4 hectares on average, an area that is smaller than five football pitches. As we cannot rely on large harvest quantities, our work doesn’t make economic sense unless the apples have the right quality. From apple blossom time until the harvest, we touch each tree with our own hands several times a year. Every orchard has a name – our ancestors christened them long ago. And we devote time and energy to each one of them every day. We know how much fruit a tree can bear and what will be too much. You can recognise this based on the good shelf life of the apples, as well as the way they taste with every bite.

We are pleased that our Biosüdtirol brand takes two words that belong together to create a strong combination: Bio and Südtirol (organic and South Tyrol). Two words for double value.
